The Angels suffered a major loss after the announcement of Shohei Ohtani being placed on the 10-day DL. Just in case you don't know Ohtani is attempting to be a pitcher but on most days he doesn't pitch be a DH something that hasn’t really been attempted since Babe Ruth. Ohtani has so far lived up to the hype, pitching to a 3.18 ERA, 3.23 FIP, 1.135 WHIP, and striking out batters at a high 11.2 K/9 rate in 49.1 innings of work, while batting .289/.372/.535 with 6 home runs, and 20 RBI's in 129 PA's. Ohtani has been a huge story for mlb baseball and fans of baseball including myself sure will miss seeing him play but maybe not facing him as the numbers shown above. The injury itself is a grade 2 sprain of the UCL. During the signing process it became known after he signed with a grade 1 UCL sprain. But grade one is play through able but needs to be taken caution about. The Angels are hoping he can avoid the big TJ surgery. We The Angels have been using a 6 man rotation to give Ohtani more rest and days to hit. My guess is they'll slide back into a 5 man rotation and use a guy like Jefery Marte or Luis Valbuena at DH or have Pujols see more DH time.
