The Reds lost the second game of their series against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday night 6-2, as the team still looks for their first win after the All-Star break.
The Pirates got on the board first with a solo home run from left fielder Corey Dickerson in the third inning, followed by an RBI double by first baseman Josh Bell in the fourth. The fifth saw Dickerson hit his second solo homer of the game to give the Pirates the 3-0 lead and starting pitcher Nick Kingham hit a two RBI single in the sixth. In the seventh, Reds catcher Curt Casali added a two run home run to cut into the Pirates’ advantage, but Pirates second baseman Sean Rodriguez came home on a wild pitch in the eighth as they went on to take the 6-2 win.
Kingham pitched six and a third innings in the win, giving up two earned runs on four hits and a pair of walks. Reds starter Anthony DeSclafani pitched four and a third innings, allowing three earned runs on six hits and a pair of walks.
The teams will finish off the series on Sunday afternoon.
