The Reds defeated the San Francisco Giants 7-1 on Saturday night, as the Reds grabbed the series win after winning on Friday night as well.
The scoring started out with a strong fourth inning from the Reds as shortstop Jose Peraza hit a solo home run and first baseman Brandon Dixon hit a two RBI double to give the Reds a 3-0 lead. The Reds added to that advantage in the fifth as right fielder Phillip Ervin got an RBI sacrifice fly and left fielder Dilson Herrera hit a solo homer in the sixth. In the seventh, Reds third baseman Eugenio Suarez hit an RBI single and while the eighth saw Giants third baseman Evan Longoria get an RBI fielder’s choice to break up the shutout, the Reds would still go on to take the 7-1 victory.
Reds starting pitcher Matt Harvey went six and a third innings with no earned runs allowed on four hits and one walk to earn the win, while Giants starter Madison Bumgarner went six innings, giving up five earned runs on eight hits and a pair of walks on the way to the loss.
The Reds will look to take the series sweep on Sunday afternoon.
