The Reds beat the Philadelphia Phillies 6-2 on Saturday night, as the team will look to go for the series victory on Sunday.
The game started out with Reds catcher Tucker Barnhart hitting an RBI double in the second inning, but the Phillies would soon respond with a two run home run by left fielder Rhys Hoskins. In the bottom of the inning, however, the Reds tied it up as center fielder Billy Hamilton smacked an RBI single.
The rest of the game would be all Reds, as first baseman Joey Votto hit an RBI single and third baseman Eugenio Suarez got an RBI groundout in the sixth inning and in the eighth inning as second baseman Scooter Gennett hit an RBI single of the game as the Reds went on to take the 6-2 win.
Reds starting pitcher Matt Harvey went five innings, giving up a pair of earned runs on a pair of hits as well as a pair of walks to get a no decision, while Phillies starter Vince Velasquez also went five innings and allowed a pair of earned runs, however he also allowed six hits and five walks on the way to the no decision as well. Reds reliever Wandy Peralta warned the win, while Phillies reliever Tommy Hunter took the loss. Reds reliever Jared Hughes took the save.
The teams will finish off the series on Sunday afternoon.
