The Reds lost in the second game of their series against the Cleveland Indians 8-1 on Tuesday night, as the Indians clinched the series victory with a win on Monday night.
The game started out with the Indians jumping out to the early lead with third baseman Jose Ramirez getting a two RBI single and first baseman Yonder Alonso getting a two RBI single, followed by an RBI groundout by catcher Yan Gomes to take a 4-0 lead. In the second, the Indians continued to add to their advantage as Alonso hit an RBI sacrifice fly and right fielder Malky Cabrera hit an RBI single.
The fifth saw center fielder Greg Allen drive in a run on a double play, followed by a solo home run by Ramirez in the sixth. The Reds would get a run back in the seventh as left fielder Preston Tucker hit an RBI single, but the Indians would hang on to take the 8-1 victory.
Indians starting pitcher Corey Kluber went seven innings, giving up just one earned run on five hits and a pair of walks to earn the win. Reds starter Sal Romano went one and two thirds innings, giving up six earned runs on seven hits and two walks in the loss, however Reds reliever Michael Lorenzen pitched four and a third innings in relief to limit the damage.
The teams will finish off the series on Wednesday night.
