The Reds fell to the Colorado Rockies in the second game of their series 6-3 on Wednesday night.
The Rockies got on the board first as catcher Tony Wolters hit an RBI double in the second inning, which the Reds responded to in the bottom of the inning as shortstop Jose Peraza, followed by second baseman Scooter Gennett hitting an RBI sacrifice fly in the third inning. However, Rockies left fielder Gerardo Parra smacked an RBI single and first baseman Ian Desmond hit a two run home run in the fourth to give them a 4-2 lead. While the Reds did get a run back in the fifth on an RBI double by Gennett, Wolters scored an RBI single in the sixth and Parra got an RBI single in the eighth to give the Rockies the 6-3 win.
Rockies starting pitcher Jon Gray allowed three earned runs on seven hits and three walks over the course of five innings in the win. Reds starter Sal Romano allowed five earned runs, giving up six hits and one walk also over five innings in the loss. Rockies reliever Wade Davis earned his second consecutive save.
The teams will finish out their series on Thursday afternoon.
