The Reds took the second game of their series against the Atlanta Braves 5-3 on Tuesday night, after falling in extra innings on Monday night.
Both teams went scoreless until the fourth inning, when Reds right fielder Jesse Winker got an RBI single, but the Braves responded in the bottom half of the inning when catcher Tyler Flowers hit an RBI double to tie it up. In the fifth, the Reds regained the lead as center fielder Scott Schebler got an RBI double and added an insurance run in the sixth with an RBI single by left fielder Adam Duvall followed by another RBI single by Winker to make it a 4-1 game.
However, the Braves started a comeback in the bottom of the eighth with first baseman Freddie Freeman and right fielder Nick Markakis each getting RBI groundouts to cut the lead to one, but the Reds added another on an RBI single by Scooter Gennett in the ninth as they went on to win 5-3.
Reds starting pitcher Matt Harvey went six and two-thirds innings giving up one earned run on six hits and one walk in the win, while Braves starter Anibal Sanchez went four and two-thirds and allowed two earned runs on five hits and one walk in the loss. Reds reliever Raisel Iglesias earned the save.
